Summit Earthworks successfully completed a site clearing and regrading project for a new BC Transit maintenance centre in Abbotsford, BC. The scope of the project involved demolition of existing structures, clearing and grubbing, excavation, stockpile and removal including transport & disposal of soils & organics, and site grading for future construction of the Central Fraser Valley Transit Centre.
Specific Tasks and Services performedÂ
- Excavation, transport, and disposal of onsite stockpile and subsurface soils to suitable disposal sites.
- Approximately 52,000 mt of soil was transported and disposed of offsite.
- A detailed Construction Environmental Management Plan & Erosion & Sediment Control plan was prepared to protect adjacent wetlands.
- Demolition & removal of semi-permanent office structure, including hazardous materials assessment and responsible demolition/recycling.
- Approximately 22,000 mt of aggregate was placed and compacted onsite, including screened aggregates and import material.
- Decommissioning of underground electrical services.
- Decommissioning of multiple groundwater monitoring wells.
- Approximately 22,000 mt of aggregate was placed and compacted onsite, including screened aggregates and import material.
- Following site grading, hydroseeding with a mulch tackifier was placed to prevent erosion and provide sediment controls until the next construction phase.
- A large volume of the existing stockpiled material was repurposed onsite by screening to specified grain size.
