The new facility construction will include:

  • Firehall: Features four double bays for fire trucks, live/work quarters, and support spaces for 7 to 15 firefighters.
  • Department Headquarters: Offices, workspaces, and support areas for 19 full and part-time staff from the District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services.
  • Indoor Training Facility: Designed for classroom training, certification courses, lectures, and support offices.
  • Outdoor Training Area: For live fire training, vehicle operations, hose training, and various rescue techniques such as rope, swift water, and vehicle extraction.

The work scope Summit Earthworks completed include:

Remediation/Excavation

  • Excavated 31,000 m³ of material.
  • Remediated 3,000 m³ of IL+ material at Summit’s facility.
  • Excavated 5 metres below grade.
  • Backfilled 3 metres after piling completion.
  • Installed a methane barrier.
  • Backfilled another 2 metres with 75 mm road base.
  • Ground brought back to grade.

Civil Construction – Installed Civil Services

  • Installed 320 metres of TR-Flex ductile iron watermain.
  • Laid 165 metres of sanitary polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe and installed concrete manholes.
  • Constructed 350 metres of storm PVC pipe and concrete manholes.
  • Installed multiple catch basins to manage surface water runoff and prevent flooding.
  • Implemented perimeter drain piping around the building to control groundwater infiltration.
  • Constructed 65 metres of reinforced concrete box culvert to manage large stormwater flows.
  • Installed a stormwater detention tank with a capacity of up to 500 m³.
